CEO Report Notes from April 24, 2024Board Meeting

The following is an outline of comments from the CEO at the recent Redwood Coast Medical Services (RCMS) Board Meeting.

Pharmacy Update
This week one of the senior Managers of Genoa Pharmacy visited the pharmacy and had a meeting with us. We discussed the progress of the pharmacy over the last several months:

• The pharmacy is filling about 45 prescriptions per day now and the goal is to fill about 80 prescriptions daily.
• We have backup pharmacists on staff to backfill our pharmacists in case of emergency, vacation, etc.
• The pharmacy now has all the vaccinations generally needed in our community.
• The pharmacy is also RCMS’ 340(b) program partner pharmacy. Under this program, participating drug manufacturers agree to provide outpatient drugs at a lower price.
• The pharmacist also provides audit functions (as required by the state pharmacy board) for our in-house small pharmacy inside our Urgent Care.

 
Organizational/Operational update

• We have initiated several activities related to our buildings' physical security. These include 24-hour surveillance cameras in our main building, instituting a security/emergency paging procedure for EJC building, appropriate signage in all entrances announcing that RCMS is a weapon-free zone, etc. We are also looking into installing key card entry for employee entrance in our main building.
• We will be cutting down some dead trees around the east end of the upper parking lot in the main building. These and other similar initiatives have started in preparation for the coming fire season.
• Mendocino County has agreed to repair and restock the FEMA emergency trailer kept in our parking lot and managed by RCMS. This is a valuable resource for our community in case of emergency.

 
FY 2024-25 Budget

• We have started our work to put together the FY24-25 budget for RCMS. We are presenting today the framework and assumptions that will be incorporated into the budget. We will submit the preliminary budget in the May board meeting for discussions and the final budget in the June meeting for approval.
