RCMS Shamli Hospice Program
Coping with a life-threatening or chronic illness can be overwhelming, and many people don't know where to turn for help. Fortunately for this community, Hospice services are available to RCMS patients and their families.
The Shamli Hospice Program at RCMS provides a special kind of care to those who are terminally ill or dying. Our goal is to help patients maintain dignity and quality of life. We encourage our patients to be in control and remain active members of their care team, making decisions about their healthcare.

Shamli Hospice Care
Hospice care is available to RCMS hospice patients in their homes around the clock. RCMS volunteers are also available to provide specialized help and support for home-bound patients and their families and caregivers. The care that the patient receives are is offered by a specially trained medical team. Hospice nurses are available to both the patients and caregivers and focuses on comfort, not on curing an illness.
To arrange hospice care a physician referral is required, along with a willingness by the individual and family members to participate in the program. The patient must also have a primary caregiver who can assume responsibility for the majority of in-home care. To learn more about hospice care, talk to your medical provider at RCMS. |
Services
Our medical providers are always available to the hospice nurse on duty so that we are able to address the concerns of our patients on short notice and after hours. Trained hospice volunteers are available to provide respite care and offer a support to both patients and caregivers. Medications are ordered from the pharmacy of your choice, and we work with patients and their caregivers to get things covered by insurance if possible. When pharmacies are closed, our nurses have access to medications such as those used for pain, nausea and infection. Medical equipment, such as a hospital bed, walker, or bedside commode can be ordered for patients through a vendor. We can help make recommendations and usually equipment can be delivered within 24 hours.

Are there service fees?
Shamli Hospice is too small to qualify as a typical MediCare hospice. We are a non-profit organization and our hospice is primarily funded through private donations, memorial gifts and community support. Medications and equipment are ordered by our care providers and covered by either MediCare or health insurance. Home visits by a medical provider are billed to insurance, but all nursing and volunteer services are offered completely free of charge.
