CEO Report Notes from July 26, 2024 Board Meeting

The following is an outline of comments from the CEO at the recent Redwood Coast Medical Services (RCMS) Board Meeting.

Community Outreach

• This past weekend, we participated in Pride in the Park activities in Point Arena. This was part of the Pride Month celebration. We had a table and provided healthcare-related information, in particular for our LGBTQ community.
• ​
• We are also planning to participate in next week’s Annual Independence Day Parade in Point Arena, which will be held on July 7. Like the last time we participated, we will have a number of our team members with RCMS banners and a vehicle or two – we will walk the parade route distributing candies and other RCMS goodies.

 
Organizational/Operational update

• We are hoping to have a Dentist join our team soon. Still, some more work has to be done to make it happen – Renee Kaucnik, Yvonne Fuentes, and others are working through the details.
• We have a Nurse practitioner from Kaiser who is also planning to join our organization – starting at 2 days a month. We are working out the details of the areas he will focus on initially. He has a house locally here.
• An MD visiting us next month. She is from Southern California and is considering moving our way.
• The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who we hired a few months back is now fully engaged with our Behavioral Health team and seeing patients. Now we have a more robust and comprehensive behavioral Health service available – from clinical counseling to the ability to prescribe psychiatric medication and follow-ups. She is shared between three FQHCs in our proximity.
• We have started an initiative for our Dental Support staff to create a tiered progression plan associated with a compensation growth plan. This is similar to what we have done for our Nurses and Medical Assistants.
• And finally, we just completed our annual employee survey. The results are being compiled as we speak and will be shared with the board.
